Your presence, your choice.

The town opens immediately for public exploration. Live multiplayer, chat, member names, and Discord presence are available only to signed-in members of the KD Discord server.

What we use

Discord sign-in identifies you and checks your KD membership. The members-only People panel lists online KD members by display name, with “On Discord” or “Playing live” labels. Online members also have decorative avatars that wander, skate or rest automatically. These animations do not describe what the member is actually doing. Offline and invisible members and bots are excluded from passive presence. Raw Discord IDs are not included in the roster or game snapshots.

When you open the website with a valid member session, you automatically join live play. A green dot above your name identifies your controlled character to other signed-in players. Guest visitors see fictional “Town local” avatars and cannot see the private Discord roster.

Chat and reactions are shared with connected players in your current map. Chat appears briefly above the speaker’s character, and is not saved by KD Square. Players can still copy messages or take screenshots. Do not post secrets or personal information.

Unsent drafts and the recent chat log stay in your browser’s memory while this page is open. They are not saved to browser storage. Chat timestamps show when your browser received each message.

Town locals

The town locals are fictional NPCs with prewritten A/B/C conversations. Their replies are private to you, are not saved, and do not use an external AI service. NPCs are separate from real Discord members.

Hide your presence

Use /plaza hide in Discord to hide yourself from the People list and remove your passive town avatar, and /plaza show to appear again. While you are logged in and playing, your name and character remain visible even if your Discord status is invisible. Log out or close the page to leave live play. Opening the People panel keeps you connected. You may still have an animated avatar for other members if your Discord presence is visible.

Storage

We save presence-hide preferences. The online list is held in memory and refreshes during live play and while the People panel is open; we do not save an online-status history. Sign-in sessions expire after 24 hours and are cleared on server restart. Membership is rechecked for roster access and during play. Discord access tokens are used for login and are not persisted. Infrastructure logs may record IP addresses and request metadata for security; they do not intentionally record chat or credentials.

To request help or removal of an opt-out record, contact the KD Discord administrators.
